The Perioperative Registered Nurse (OR Nurse) position is responsible for providing Perioperative patient care using the Nursing Process, in accordance with CARNA (College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta), ORNAC (Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada) and CSA (Canadian Standards Association) standards of practice. The Perioperative Registered Nurse will demonstrate competence in delivering safe, effective and efficient care in both a scrub and circulating role, as an integral part of their surgical team. The Perioperative Registered Nurse is responsible to provide safe care throughout the patient stay in the Surgical Suite. The Perioperative Registered Nurse promotes the professional role and evaluates their own professional education and clinical practice standards. The scope of practice is a continuum ranging from basic to advanced clinical nursing activities. The Perioperative Registered Nurse will practice using evidence based measures and outcomes. The Perioperative Registered Nurse is a patient advocate and provides a link between the units and the Operating Room. The Perioperative Registered Nurse draws on a unique body of nursing knowledge.

Under the direction of the Recreation Therapy Supervisor, the Therapy Attendant will assist residents/clients in a variety of programs that are designed to support the resident’s/client’s orientation, functional ability, social skills, and emotional needs in a safe and supportive environment in accordance with Lamont Health Care Centre’s policies, procedures and standards.
